NDIS Meal Prep Services

Consuming a healthy diet with regular, nutrient-packed meals is essential to our well-being. But eating healthy starts with planning and preparation. Unfortunately, creating a delicious, healthy meal may be a challenge for people living with disabilities. With Maple Community Services NDIS Meal Preparation Support, you don’t have to sacrifice your well-being and you can achieve your nutrition goals.

Whether you or your loved one experiences a disability, Maple can help you with Meal Preparation and delivery with the help of funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to ensure you live your life to the fullest.

How Can Meal Preparation Services Help Someone With a Disability?

We know that disabilities come in many forms, so not everyone faces the same challenges. Eating a healthy diet is an important part of your overall health. Nutritional deficits of vitamins or nutrients can make a person’s pre-existing disability worse and introduce even more challenges to their life. If you are living with a disability that limits your ability to stick to a healthy meal plan, you don’t have to suffer in silence.

If your ability to plan and prepare for meals is limited, your NDIS funding could potentially help you. Whether you struggle to put together a healthy weekly menu, you have special dietary requirements, you are unable to cook or do food prep, or you are unable to buy food on your own, our NDIS Meal Preparation and delivery can help you. Together, we’ll work to create a healthy and sustaining meal plan based on your personal tastes and needs.

What can NDIS fund for Meal Preparation?

NDIS participants have the opportunity to secure funding for meal preparation through the Assistance with Daily Living category. This includes NDIS food preparation services and delivery supports which are indispensable for accessing the nutritious meals required to enhance your well-being. However, it’s important to note that the NDIS does not cover the everyday living costs that are common to everyone such as the cost of food or ingredients for your meals.

The NDIS recognises that access to meal preparation services can significantly alleviate the everyday cost of living for people with disabilities who often contend with additional challenges in preparing and accessing healthy meals. This support ensures that you have the means to maintain a healthy diet without the additional financial burden of purchasing and preparing food yourself.

By receiving meal preparation assistance, participants can focus on other aspects of personal growth and well-being. As NDIS meal providers, Maple caters to your specific dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring that your meals are not only nutritious but also enjoyable, ultimately contributing to an enriched quality of life.

Do I Qualify For Meal Preparation Services Under the NDIS?

There are many factors that the NDIS considers before deciding on your available funding. The support service needs to be reasonable and necessary to help you achieve your goals, purpose, and aspirations.

Meal preparation and menu plans are covered under the Core Supports category and considered as Assistance with Daily Activities. If you are unable to cook a meal or shop for ingredients because of your disability, you should be covered under the NDIS funding to pay for meal preparation and even have meals delivered to you.

The specifics of your NDIS Plan will determine how you can use the available funds. If you’re not sure if your needs fall under this category, we can help you clarify with the NDIA exactly what is and isn’t covered under your personalised plan.

What Meal Preparation Services are Available Under NDIS?

The NDIS will cover the cost of having your meal prepared and delivered to you. It doesn’t cover the cost of ingredients as these are considered to be ‘everyday expenses.’ Since this is the case, most meal service providers use a standard formula for all their meals instead of itemising each ingredient in a dish. By doing this, it breaks down the cost for preparation, delivery, and ingredients and this may vary depending on the provider. Generally, providers use a co-pay method where NDIS funding will cover around 70% of the price of the meal and 30% is covered by the participant.

How Do I Access Maple Meal Preparation Services?

First of all, get in touch with us online, by phone, or in person! We can meet with you, help assess your dietary needs and what’s covered and available to you under the NDIS, and then partner you with the right people. Together, we’ll create a plan that works for you to make sure you're eating a balanced and nutritious diet that will keep you as healthy as you can possibly be.

Can you use NDIS for Meal Preparation?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds reasonable and necessary supports that are connected to the disability you are living with and each participant's NDIS Plan is different. The NDIS can provide you with funding to use Maple’s Meal Preparation services if you are unable to do it yourself.

Unfortunately, the NDIS does not cover the cost of the food itself. The services are provided to participants subject to the rules set out in the NDIS price guide, but we will work to make sure you can make the most of what’s available to you.
