Do I Qualify For Transport and Travel Services Under the NDIS?
There are many factors that the NDIS considers before deciding on your available funding. The support service needs to be reasonable and necessary to help you achieve your goals, purpose, and aspirations.
NDIS Transport and Travel Services are covered under the Core Supports - arranging and providing transport, but it can also fall under any of the other Core Supports if you have a need for it within those categories.
The specifics of your NDIS Plan will determine how you can use the available funds, whether they’re considered Core Supports, Capacity Building, or Capital Funding. What transport and Travel Services are Available Under NDIS?
Funding for Transport services for disability under the NDIS can pay for a community bus, a taxi, or another kind of transport for those who are unable to get around themselves. However, it may not be used to pay a family member to drive you around.
Transport services funding through the NDIS can also go towards activities to help you build confidence through transport options. For example, if you have challenges you would like to overcome that make independent travel difficult, the NDIS may fund public transport training or driving lessons.
The NDIS can also fund travel with a care worker who may accompany you to any community involvement, social connections or daily life activities. This type of funding usually falls under Assistance with Social and Community Participation.
Modifications to a private vehicle you use for transport that makes it easier to access or operate can also be funded by NDIS under Assistive Technology.

Can You Use NDIS for Transport and Travel?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funds reasonable and necessary support for people living with disabilities and each participant's NDIS Plan is different. If your mobility is limited due to living with a disability, and you’re unable to drive or take public transport, NDIS can provide you with a general transport allowance to avail of Maple’s Transport and Travel Services.
