Maple Directors recognised with ‘Young Entrepreneur Award’

Specialist Services – Samira Razak and Abdul Razak from Maple Community Services

Western Sydney based Maple Community Services has been recognised for the second year in a row at the annual 2021 Business News Australia Awards, with Founders and Directors Samira Razak and Abdul Razak being awarded the ‘Sydney Young Entrepreneur Award for Specialist Services’.

These awards set out to recognise young entrepreneurs and executives who are challenging and defying the ‘traditional’ Australian business landscape. “They acknowledge the outstanding leadership and success of founders all over the country.” ~ Business News Australia representative.

Maple Community Services is a disability service provider that, in its short 3-year period of operation, has broken down barriers, changed perceptions, and led the way in providing exceptional disability supports and services to individuals within the region and more broadly, across the country. Starting as a mere team of two, three years ago, Maple Community Services, with the support of the local community, has experienced exponential development and rapid growth, now servicing in multiple major cities and states around the country, including Victoria, Perth, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast. Now sitting at over 35 Management Staff and 250+ Support Workers, the business has successfully developed a strong workforce and family that lives and breathes its innovative culture and ethos each and every day.

Falling in love with the disability industry through casual work, Samira and Abdul both decided to leave their law studies at WSU and establish a business whereby they could make a bigger difference each and every day. “It is our moral and ethical compass that led us down this path.” said Samira and Abdul.

Not only did they enjoy building strong connections and supporting NDIS Participants, but Samira and Abdul also gained vital insight into the challenges essential Support Workers face every day: “We wanted to establish an organisation that fosters inclusive and positive environments for not only participants, but Support Workers as well.” This is what has led the business to be so successful today.

Receiving awards such as this one, is not only a reflection on the individuals within the Executive Staff, but also an incredible recognition for those individuals within our broader community, who without, this achievement would not have been possible. With this, we say a massive congratulations first and foremost to the Directors, and a sincere thank you to the whole Maple Community Services Family. The business looks forward to another successful year, where we will continue to break down barriers and empower our community.
